Life with ADHD: Interpretative phenomenological analysis - case study

Karin Černickaja, Lenka Sokolová

Diskuze v psychologii 2022, 4(2):44-51 | DOI: 10.5507/dvp.2023.004

Interpretive phenomenological analysis (IPA) gives us an insight into the experiences of individuals and brings us closer to what it is like to be and live with, for example, a specific disorder such as attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder - ADHD. ADHD is not typical only for childhood, some symptoms are persistent and manifest themselves also in adulthood. The presence of ADHD may affect how an individual experiences the moments of their life. This paper allows us to read the life book of one person through the IPA and life story interview. The chapters of this book contain not only a list of ADHD symptoms, but also the participant´s experiences...

Daniel Lenghart, Michal Čerešník

Diskuze v psychologii 2022, 4(2):52-60 | DOI: 10.5507/dvp.2023.005

The aim of this paper is to explore the relationship between prosocial tendencies towards the LGBTQ+ community and attachment styles in a population of Czech adults. Two methods of questionnaire nature were used in the research. The first method was the author's original Attachment Styles Questionnaire (Lenghart & Čerešník, 2022). The second method was the original Scale of Prosocial Tendencies towards the LGBTQ+ Community (Lenghart & Čerešník, 2022). This method measures digital, public, and overall prosociality toward the LGBTQ+ community. The research population consisted of 500 Czech adults aged 18 to 64. The mean age of the participants...

Effects of non-driving related tasks during autonomous driving

Miroslava Horáková

Diskuze v psychologii 2022, 4(2):61-72 | DOI: 10.5507/dvp.2023.006

The presented study deals with the topic of non-driving related tasks in the context of driving in autonomous mode. In the introduction, the levels of automation are defined and the pitfalls of the L3 level (third level of automation, conditional automation), are described, especially with regard to takeover performance. A takeover is defined both in terms of its speed and quality. The individual variables measured in this context are described. Subsequently, the concept of non-driving related tasks is described both in a broader context (manual driving) and in a narrower context (driving in autonomous mode). Non-driving related tasks have a negative...

Lucia Valjentová, Petra Minárová, Radomír Masaryk

Diskuze v psychologii 2022, 4(2):73-83 | DOI: 10.5507/dvp.2023.007

The primary aim of our work was to investigate how students perceived the university, how they made decisions about it, and how they perceived and evaluated its communication. We collected data using 29 focus groups in which we interviewed a total of 137 students from all thirteen faculties of the CU. We analysed the results using thematic analysis. We found that students mainly learn about study options from high school and from their parents. Students associate CU with history, but also with branding, and the image they associate most with the institution is the CU Headquarters building. Despite this, some students were sceptical about the new logo...

Frozen goals in the context of the developmental characteristics of emerging adulthood

Michaela Muchová

Diskuze v psychologii 2022, 4(2):84-91 | DOI: 10.5507/dvp.2023.008

Frozen goals are goals that a person neither actively strives for, nor gives up on (Davydenko et al., 2019). The aim of this paper was to examine frozen goals in the context of the developmental period of emerging adulthood. 345 respondents aged 18-29 took part in the research with an average age of 22.59 years (SD = 2.57). Frozen goals were characterized by lower goal commitment and lower goal self-efficacy compared to active goals. Goal self-efficacy negatively correlated with instability/negativity for both frozen and active goals. Positive correlations were shown between goal self-efficacy and identity exploration in frozen goals and between goal...
