The relationship of prosocial tendencies toward the LGBTQ+ community and attachment styles in the population of czech adults
The aim of this paper is to explore the relationship between prosocial tendencies towards the LGBTQ+ community and attachment styles in a population of Czech adults. Two methods of questionnaire nature were used in the research. The first method was the author's original Attachment Styles Questionnaire (Lenghart & Čerešník, 2022). The second method was the original Scale of Prosocial Tendencies towards the LGBTQ+ Community (Lenghart & Čerešník, 2022). This method measures digital, public, and overall prosociality toward the LGBTQ+ community. The research population consisted of 500 Czech adults aged 18 to 64. The mean age of the participants was 29.23 years (SD = 9.472). The research results show that there is a positive relationship between secure attachment and prosocial tendencies and a negative relationship between avoidant attachment and prosocial tendencies. The regression analysis also showed that secure, avoidant, anxious, and disorganized attachments are significant predictors of prosociality levels. Disorganized attachment was not a significant predictor of digital prosociality.
Keywords: adulthood; attachment style; prosocial tendencies toward LGBTQ+; prosociality; attachment
