The relation between locus of control and risk activities by czech adolescents

The introductory paragraphs of this article deal with the problems of school readiness and the postponement of compulsory school attendance. We define the concept of school readiness, which criteria it comprises of and how we can test it. The root cause of the immaturity lies in the deficiencies within the educational environment, the somatic development, the neurotic development and the early CNS damage. The base for this article is the master thesis that aims at the parenthood readiness of young adults in relation to attachment theory and other factors (gender, age, aspects of relationship and subjective developmental status). Perceived upbringing styles and risk behavior expressions of adolescents in the system of lower secondary education

In the contribution we present the partial results of the research activity which bears on the risk behaviour of adolescents and the perceived upbringing stales in their families. As a theoretical base we start with the Jessor`s concept of the Syndrome of the Risk Behavior in the Adolescence. We acquire the data from the more than 600 of adolescents from all regions of Slovakia. They were in the age from 10 to 16. They visited the elementary schools. The main objective of the study is to identify the differences in risk behaviour in terms of physical activities and food-related practices in relation to parenting styles as perceived by (pre-) adolescents. The Eating Habits and Activities subscale of the Questionnaire of Risk Behaviour (QRB), consisting of seven items, was used to examine specific forms of risk behaviour, while a standardized questionnaire for detecting parenting styles in the family (DZSVR) was used to examine parenting styles: democratic, authoritarian, liberal, and indifferent.
