In the article, we report on the partial results of the research, the goal of which was to design and experimentally verify the effectiveness of a training program aimed at developing the social competence of teachers. Our main intention was to develop the social competences of teachers and contribute to the strengthening of their professional competences at the same time. The research goal was to find out if and how the deliberate stimulation of the social competence of teachers in the form of training will affect the level of the monitored personality and interpersonal variables. To monitor personality variables through two test measurements in the experimental and control groups at the beginning and at the end of the socialpsychological training, we used the NEO-FFI questionnaire, interpersonal variables were measured by the ICL questionnaire. In the experimental group which participated in the training, we noticed a statistically significant increase in the values of personality factors E (extraversion) and K (kindness) at the level of significance 0,01; an increase in the values of the variables O (openness to experience) and C (conscientiousness) at the level of significance 0,05, and a decrease in the values of the variable N (neuroticism) at the level of significance 0,01. We also observed statistically significant decreases in the values of the octants DE (aggression and hostility), FG (distrustful resistance), HI (submissiveness) and JK (weak dependence), and statistically significant increases in the values of the octants BC (self-assertion) and LM (affiliation) at the 0.01 level of significance. It is possible to interpret these findings as a shift in trainees' behaviour towards more adaptive forms. In this way, they can fulfil their social and occupational roles better.
