Risk personality traits of adolescents. Specification in relation to age, gender and type of socialization experience

In the article we present the results of the research, which focuses on the production of risky behavior in the context of selected personality traits of adolescents visiting the lower secondary education: elementary schools and multiannual grammar schools (ZŠG) and adolescents from orphanages with schools and educational institutions (DDŠVÚ). As a research tool, we used The Substance Use Risk Profile Scale (SURPS, Dolejš, 2012). The research sample consisted of 2353 Czech adolescents from elementary schools and multiannual grammar schools; 217 Czech adolescents from orphanages with schools and educational institutions. The total sample consisted of 2570 adolescents, 1294 boys and 1276 girls. The results show that adolescents from DDŠVÚ are significantly more impulsive and experience more intense despair compared to adolescents from ZŠG. The personality traits such as negative thinking (hopelessness), impulsiveness and sensation seeking are increasing with age and anxiety sensitivity decreasing in certain school years. We identified the intersexual differences that point to the fact that the sensation seeking is significantly higher in the population of boys. The anxiety sensitivity is significantly higher in the population of the girls.
