We define the concept of school readiness, which criteria it comprises of and how we can test it. The root cause of the immaturity lies in the deficiencies within the educational environment, the somatic development, the neurotic development and the early CNS damage. Request for the postponement of compulsory school attendance has been according to the CSI (2013) unchanged since 2011/2012, the favorable result receives 22.8 % of the preschoolers. The research project that serves as the basis of this article was carried out with 301 children in 2014 and other 1518 children underwent a psychological assessment which was performed in 2003, 2008 and 2013. The findings revealed that individual subscales of The Orientation Test of School Readiness (OTSZ) are in moderately strong relationship and their relation to the overall score of OTSZ is also highly dependent (in both forms of the questionnaire). The children who do not receive the approval of postponement achieve better results in all given tasks than the children who receive the approval of the postponement of compulsory school attendance. The correct pencil grip had 34% of children during the psychological assessment in 2003, 35 % of children in 2008 and 40 % in 2013. The topic of the discussion is definitely an unrepresentative unit in view of the reference population within the territory of the Czech Republic. This limitation was offset by a thorough analysis of the archival data that were collected within the two Educational and Psychological Counselling Centers and from the several hundred respondents (reports). The research has confirmed that the OTSZ methods and the Reversal Test (RT) may serve as a quality psycho-diagnostic tool when deciding on the postponement of compulsory school attendance and we can say they provide quality prediction of the school success.
